In childhood if you fall while playing or hurt yourself by some ways everyone used to say don’t cry but if you are a boy you would have got to hear “Boys don’t cry”, “Strong boys don’t cry”. Because of this it has become everyone mentality that boys are not supposed to cry. Whenever a boy cries people around him says “Don’t cry like a girl”, it is now fed in our heads that girls only cry and boys are not supposed to.
God has gifted us with these many emotions and everyone expresses their happiness, anger, sadness, grief, joy but when it comes to crying why lag behind. Many boys think that I am strong as I don’t cry. So I would like to correct such people that expressing your emotion is not what makes you weak. Many people judge boys/men weak if they start crying and it is totally wrong, you just can’t judge anyone as you don’t know what they are going through so a request to all females out there rather than judging, help your friends out if they are suffering pain maybe they just need someone to understand and support them. When we are physically injured you take medicine to heal but what about mental pain, no pills are going to cure that. Crying is a human response to pain and sorrow, it is healthy. It helps to relax us as crying activates parasympathetic nervous system (PNS), it can lift people’s spirit, make them feel relieved. As everything has certain limit crying also has, if you start crying frequently it may be a sign of depression.
As you are not ashamed of expressing other emotions, never ever get ashamed of crying. Every emotion has a purpose so does crying has a purpose too. So don’t think twice just express how you feel and never leave hopes everything will go well. But make sure everything is within limits so you don’t need to consult a doctor.
